Safi Morocco :

Safi "The heart of the region Doukala Abda" is one of the most charming and beautiful Moroccan cities located on the atlantic coast, the city of Safi is the capital city of the region Doukala, Abda, its port is one of the most important ports in Morocco, the city was once considered as the world's sardines capital and potery capital, it contains as early as the 60's one of the important industrial complexes of phosphat transformation, actually Safi has as many as 290.000 Habitants.

As far as history, there is not enough historical texts about Safi and its origins, safi was frequented by the Romains, it appeared in the arab texts under the name of Asfi, Safi is also a famous Moroccan city for its traditional arts, aita music, and music of chikhat Morocco, Safi is hometown of so many moroccan artists, such as bajedoub and fatna bent el houssine.

Safi is mainly modern, as it's housing a fishing port and a diversified industry, If you enter the city along the most common route, you'll see the industry before you see the city. Don't let this make you turn around as when you get to explore the city you will no doubt fall in love with its historical monuments, the port, sidi bouzid, and the potery village.

The city it self is charming, with an old city very much alive. Here you might be tempted to buy pottery, seeing all shapes and patterns in a lot of shops, but then you are in one of the best places in Morocco.

There are plenty of opportunities to walk around and look at people working on their pottery. When you have been in places like Moulay Idriss you will have seen the beautiful covering on the roofs, made out of green tiles. Safi is the place where these are produced.
